Our commitment to the SDGs

“SDGs” stands for Sustainable Development Goals, which are common goals of the international community adopted by world leaders at a UN summit in September 2015.
The SDGs are formed of 17 goals and 169 targets and pledge to “leave no one behind” on Earth.
The ZAZA GROUP is strongly committed to helping achieve the SDGs through the following initiatives.

Six initiatives of the ZAZA GROUP

BRING

As part of its commitment to the SDGs, the ZAZA GROUP joined the BRING clothing recovery project in September 2020 to promote the collection and recycling of unneeded clothing.
BRING is a project organized by JEPLAN, INC. to recycle textile products into earth resources through cooperation with many different companies and consumers.
Polyester recovered from clothes collected by BRING is converted back into pure pellets (polyester fibers) and used as raw materials for new clothes.
As of now, the ZAZA GROUP has collected a total of about 100 kg of textile products.
We aim to contribute to a more sustainable society through the recycling of clothes.

Responsible Consumption and Production

Environmentally friendly production plan

We are advancing our production plan, which includes the goal of not making too many products and of eliminating unnecessary production as much as possible.

Promotion of paper packaging

We are gradually changing our product packaging from plastic to paper to save petroleum resources and prevent pollution due to the disposal of chemical substances.

Education

Donations to educational institutions

We have made donations to the Nagaoka University of Technology and Fukuoka Prefectural Wakamatsu High School to help improve the educational environment and promote new technological developments.

Dressing Seminars

We host Dressing Seminars at local high schools, vocational schools, etc. to help students prepare themselves for job interviews.
The aim is to develop young human resources for future society by lecturing participants on basic behavior and manners expected of working members of society, including how to dress, meet and greet professionally.

Resource saving

Washable made-to-measure suits

The ZAZA GROUP’s made-to-measure suit brand “ORDER BOX” offers washable made-to-measure suits that can be washed in cold water.
This contributes to preventing water pollution and reducing consumption of petroleum resources, used in dry cleaning solvents, by allowing customers to wash their suits at home, instead of having them dry-cleaned, which is less sustainable environmentally.
Our wish is to work hand in hand with customers to promote environmental preservation through our made-to-measure suits.

Adoption of LED lighting

We began to replace lighting equipment in our stores and offices with LED lighting in 2016.
The aim of adopting LED lights, which last longer and save more energy compared to conventional lights, is to reduce CO2 emissions, save energy and cut down on waste.
Another advantage of LED lighting is that it does not contain mercury or other toxic elements that are used in fluorescent lighting and thus is more friendly to the human body and environment.

Power saving

We do our utmost to conserve electricity through careful setting and operation of air conditioning and other systems that consume a great deal of power.
The goal is to reduce CO2 emissions and save energy by keeping tabs on power consumption and efficiently adjusting room temperatures, which enables us to eliminate the wasteful consumption of electricity.

Environmental action

Production of organic cotton products

The production area for cotton is said to occupy 2–3% of fields worldwide. About 10% of global pesticide use is for cotton production.

The large amounts of pesticides used in cotton-producing countries lead to pollution of the land and groundwater, and damage the health of the people living in the area.

ZAZA Group is developing products made from organic cotton to eliminate such damage.

As we carry out appropriate control from production to distribution, we have been certified by an organic certification organization.

Usage of biomass plastic bags

We have changed our plastic bags to eco-friendly biomass plastic bags containing 30% plant-based raw materials.

Biomass plastic is made from plant-based raw materials, which leads to reductions in CO2 emissions and the saving of petroleum resources.

Usage of renewable energy

We are proactively installing solar panels to introduce renewable energy.

This contributes to the saving of fossil fuels and reductions in CO2 emissions.

Women’s empowerment action

Women account for 65% of all employees in the ZAZA Group. Moreover, we are actively striving to increase our number of female managers.

Simultaneously with our building of a working environment in which each employee can make the most of their individuality, regardless of gender, we are also pushing forward with creating an environment in which everyone can actively participate in management.
